Wander in Gladnesss: New Original Prints by Somerset Printmakers

Wander in Gladnesss: New Original Prints by Somerset Printmakers

Somerset Printmakers was formed in 1998 by a group of 17 professional artists who lived and worked in Somerset. They all shared a dedication to printmaking as a unique blend of craft and creativity. Their aims, then as now, were to promote their work together and to show the best of printmaking from Somerset.

One of their first major initiatives was a collection of limited edition prints called ‘The Person from Porlock’ based on the poems of Samuel Taylor Coleridge written during his time at Nether Stowey. The exhibition was launched at the Court Gallery in Nether Stowey and it then moved to the Brewhouse in Taunton followed by the Phoenix Gallery in Exeter.

They are delighted to have been invited back to Nether Stowey again, this time by the National Trust at the Coleridge Cottage, to create and exhibit another body of work based on Coleridge’s poetry, entitled ‘Wander in Gladness’ (a quotation from his poem ‘This Lime Tree Bower my Prison’). All work will be for sale, and will represent a wide variety of styles and techniques.

The Somerset Printmakers taking part are: Hilary Adair, Bronwen Bradshaw, Pennie Elfick, Susan Gradwell, Jenny Graham, Sue Lowe, Julia Manning, Ros Marchant, Tony Martin, Jane Mowat, Angela Naunton Davies, Vera Sheaf, Jacy Wall and Judy Willoughby
