As long as I can remember I have always painted. I work intuitively from my studio overlooking the misty Pennine Hills. I love the creative process and paint with immediacy straight onto the canvas, letting inspiration guide me. I like a painting to emerge from the canvas. I work mainly in acrylics for the jewel-like colour, flexibility, durability and the quick drying time between layers of paint – of which there are many.

I have an ND in Art and Design and an MA in Hispanics from Glasgow University. I have travelled widely in Spain, Portugal and South America, where the intense luminosity of light and colour profoundly influenced my artwork.

My work is mainly figurative and intuitive. Some of my themes and sources of inspiration to date include: figures, faces, birds, dreams, archetypes, icons, symbols, meditation, mythology, journeys ,sacred places and the human experience.

I am inspired by our spiritual heritage and all the themes therein. My work generally has mystical and symbolic elements to it. I see art as a visual language communicating that which cannot be spoken in words. It has the ability to transcend the language barrier and convey the deeper meaning and great mystery of life.

I have exhibited independently and as part of the Outsider Art Movement in Leeds, London, York, Berlin and Valencia. My paintings and prints on my website and in my etsy shop .
