Extremely Textiles

Extremely Textiles

Extremely Textiles showcases nine local designer-makers and features a dazzling and colourful array of work from various disciplines, from sculptural textiles, drawing with thread, weaving and knitted wall hangings to cushions, furniture and garments.
Kate Bond produces beautiful digitally printed fabrics, products and surface print designs which have been inspired by hand-crafted techniques such as folding and pleating, collage and hand drawing skills.
Textile designer Desiree Goodall uses sculptural knitting techniques to create stunning capes and wraps from natural fibres.
Artist Julie Heaton pushes the boundaries of stitch to create meticulous artworks in thread using dissolvable fabric.
Mixed media artist Gill Hewitt specialises in the production of textural and colourful layered, printed, dyed and painted fabric for room dividers, screens and wall panels.
Textile innovator, installation artist and designer Joy Merron explores textiles as an architectural form, layering geometric shapes and repeating patterns, combining handcrafted and technological processes to create 3D textile installations as well as beautifully crafted, smaller interior pieces.
Angie Parker is an award-winning weaver of rugs and exquisite textiles derived from traditional Scandinavian rug weaving techniques.
Julia Penrose uses deconstructed clothing and the association of the human form to explore the relationships and boundaries that exist between us.
Linda Row is a clothing designer and the founder of Clothworks and Boutique Ethique. Her garments are made from sustainably sourced materials and coloured with natural dyes.
Sarah Truscott uses natural fibres – typically cotton, silk, merino wool and linen – to weave scarves, rugs and wall-hangings in delicately graduated colour-ways on her Scandinavian floor looms.
